I was so lucky to have been taught by this incredible artist. I love Mary's work.
THE BEST!
I used to work for William in his studio for 8 years. Best time of my life! What a generous, humble productive, intelligent and creative man!
Happy 4 You, I bet I would have had a memorable time 2

What breed is David Cohen's dog?
Yeah, interesting perspectives. I've been enjoying an introduction to Dore Ashton's work via her book, Picasso On Art and was curious to know more. Thanks for the share, frauleinspiel!
lol
Excellent ! Merci !
Interesting.
i'm really missing this guy right now. had the pleasure of having him as a professor at RISD for a semester. I've grown to love his work immensely since then
she has a backyard in NYC?
i'm using her book, its quite difficult but really goof
anybody knows how this interview was recorded? which technique was use? Final cut??
Hi. I was there when William made this and similar videos. Clever planning, and editing on Premiere Pro on Apple Mac.
Very fun indeed
Loved it!

Really enjoyed this thank you :-)

Stephen, Everyone from Mickey's old crew will miss you, John Merrill
Fascinating idea. Great!
:^*
what an extraordinary woman, and the filming simply allows her to be her ordinary self. very elegant work! not many people know how to turn a camera on someone in this unjudgemental way. Bill Maynes is an artist.
"the gaze" . . . oh my, it's so reaffirming when you hear someone articulate the same thoughts and feelings you have come to on your own over the years of working. I find it re-assuring to know that artists, regardless of time or place, come to the same conclusions (albeit in-progress) independently. This phenomenon feels different from Jung's collective consciousness, but I unable to verbalize the difference.
@kaabakaze Thanks for your input. I will be sure not to see shows at Mary Boone if this is what they are showing. I stand by my original comment.
this is a sad comment and untrue.
I studied with Jake and his integrity and dedication is immeasurable. His work is amazing and he is a role model for life.
everyone is entitled to their opinion . . .
very stoic kinda guy
Cute girl, but really, I would suggest she start studying the work of better artists. Never too late to learn, nor to change one's whole philosophy.
All this coming from a guy named artstar. No reason to look at his work? Someone got burnt studying under this guy
I love Kingsburg. I often go to Hirtle's Beach, and I also drive around to look at the houses. It is one of the most beautiful places in Nova Scotia, I believe - simple seaside beauty.
Do you live in kingsburg
quietness of gaze.. harks back to the Rembrandt portraits. Naturally some of the best are not widely known, as with most great artists. In the 70's I wasn't Jake's student, but at a crit of 200 students he said "there are only 2 real paintings here. Everything else is beneath criticism." I was glad to be among the 2. Would like to see Jake's recent work.
Thanks for posting, I recently met Jake at a residency I was doing this june in woodstock. Fan of his work.
Oh Chie-chan wa cho kawaii desu ne
This is where I grew up, thank you for sharing it!
OMG I went to school with her!!! How wonderful that she is so successful now!
Cool work Chie!
